It's Oh So Quiet

It's New Years Eve

It's 9am

It's dark

It's snowing

All the cars sound like they are riding around on buble wrap (the sound of the studded tyres on the road)

We are gonna try and make our way out to Gulfoss today which has a very large water fall and a geysir.

At some point this evening they light bonfires all over Reykjavik and then at midnight every man and his dog and his cat and the cats mother sets off fireworks.

This will most likely be my last post of the year so Happy New Year to everyone!

Will Someone Do Something About The Weather!

I've forgotten my bloody waterproof trousers!

By the looks of it I will be needing them tomorrow evening for going to various New Years eve bonfires and such like.

Weather has been utterly shite here today, we took a walk out this afternoon to the big shopping place, didn't realize quite how far it was, got soaked getting there and soaked coming back.

Not sure what we're up to tomorrow, just waiting for the boys to decide.

Horrizontal Rain

It's 10.30am, its dark, its raining and its windy!

Not sure what we're gonna do today as weather is pretty shite might just have a brief look around Reykjavik.

Land Of The Midnight Night

Up at 8am this morning, pitch black outside.
Wandered up one of the main streets to see if the supermarket was open at 9.30am and there was no one about!

Anyway then we headed off on a 238km tour of various snowy roads in Iceland, originaly heading for Gulfoss we didn't get there cos the road was impassable (see pix later) we're gonna try again later in the week.

Flight over was good, left 45mins late due to traffic on the runway!

Got here to find it about -5C and snow all over the place

Twas The Night Before Iceland And All Thru The House.....

All packed, I think!

Did a last minute dash to the sales today and got a few bargains, a fleece and some thermal bottoms should finish off the artic expedition clothing nicely!
